DEATH BY YOPLAIT CONTAINERS

This is an old story. You've probably heard it many times. And you've
probably heard that the Yoplait yogurt container has been "redesigned" so
that it doesn't kill animals anymore.

NOT TRUE !

Animals still die every day because of Yoplait yogurt containers.

Animals like this beautiful skunk and also many others, especially babies.

Have these wild animals heard those ads on TV and discovered for themselves that Yoplait is the best tasting yogurt on the market? Are they watching their fat and cholesterol intake? Is the fruit fresher tasting in Yoplait? Maybe so. So why are they dying?

You know that Yoplait cup design. Everybody knows that cup shape. Great idea for marketing - turn the cup upside down! You can't miss that on the grocery shelf. No other yogurt container is like that. No other yogurt container opens at the little end.

THE PROBLEM IS that animals stick their head inside AND CAN'T GET THEIR HEAD OUT. Then they wander around, possibly onto a highway where they could be hit by a car, around their own home in the woods where they could be eaten  alive by a predator, around a neighborhood where someone might think they have rabies and kill them, just in case. Or maybe none of these things happen and they just wander around getting more and more thirsty until they die of dehydration, asphyxiation or starvation. Gee, why don't they just use their paws to pull the container off?

1. A lot of animals, especially babies, cannot sit up on their back feet in
order to use two front feet to pull it off....(except in cartoons--this is
REAL LIFE)

2. If they use one paw to try to pull it off, the container only slips
to the other side. There is nowhere to get a grip on the smooth sides, if they could grip.

3. They are wild animals, and babies. They don't understand what has
happened, or why. They get scared.

In the past dozen or so years, many, many people have asked the Yoplait
company to change their cup design. Many people have sent in ideas to help save the wild animals lives. Many people have talked with the decision makers at the Yoplait company. Many times the Yoplait company has said, "Yes, we will  change our cups so we will not kill any more animals." Many times the Yoplait company has made minor adjustments to their cup -- none of which were  changes that would keep animals from dying. They put a little note about animals on the cup -- have you ever noticed it?  Think the animals ever noticed it? Does the Yoplait cup look any different to you than it always has?

The smaller end is still the end that opens.

SOLUTION? THE BIG END HAS TO OPEN.

They can print the cup upside down. They can sit the cup on the shelf upside down but THE BIG END HAS TO OPEN. THE SMALL END HAS TO STAY CLOSED.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SAVE LIVES?

Here are some suggestions:

1) Boycott Yoplait (or all General Mills products) until they change the
design.

2) Write letters:
General Mills, Inc.
P.O. Box 1113
Minneapolis, MN 55440

3) Send e-mail:

Go to either of these web pages and send your comments and suggestions

4) Call General Mills:
1-800-328-1144 (7:30 am - 5:30 pm, CST, weekdays)

5) If you really "must" buy Yoplait brand, then
CRUSH AND/OR CUT THE CUP BEFORE THROWING IT IN THE TRASH.

6) Don't throw the cup in the trash -- recycle it.

SAVING A LIFE FEELS GREAT. TRY IT AND SEE.
